Imagine the haunting elegance of Swan Lake, but instead of a far-off European kingdom, the tragedy unfolds against the rugged, misty shores of the Fortress of Louisbourg. To celebrate Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s legacy, Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen has tucked a piece of our own Atlantic history into this classical masterpiece. With breathtaking sets by Camellia Koo and authentic 17th-century costumes, the production marries world-class ballet with a distinct Canadian soul. It’s the story you know and love, reimagined in a seascape that feels like home. Pure, traditional beauty, seen through a familiar Maritime lens.
In addition to our professional dancers, each performance will include up to 6-12 age-appropriate roles for local young aspiring dancers, ages 9 to 17, through Ballet Jörgen’s Local Participant Program.
